Night by the sea

Dark night approaches

And the blue shore is quiet

As the ever roaring sea sleeps

The moon, watchful

Witnesses the sad birds returning

To their trees

The air hangs heavy

And brooding…

For the broken heart

Despairs tonight…

Shall this long night ever

End and a new day dawn

Tomorrow?

I look up at the

Stars and feel the breeze rising

To touch my cheeks….
