Hometown

I left my heart

where the sea succumbs to the Pacific

where I buried an old stick with names

and asked a sign of what we will become

I left my heart

where locals claimed Magellan first landed

where I danced in the middle of the night

with the glow of the moon and the fireflies

I left my heart

where other roads lead to majestic caves

where I first heard of shamans and unicorns

yet I’ve never seen one; only felt them

I left my heart

where streets are empty by 8 pm

where I bathed in public with my clothes on

while people pass by with their cows and cars

I left my heart

where house are far yet people are close

where I met my muse and my crazy friends

whose hearts await for our homecoming

This article catches not just my attention but also my heart because aside from the fact that it is captivating, this article made me feel the cravings of being in my hometown again cause that is when I feel happy, loved and secured together with my most loved ones which is my family.

I can picture my hometown through this lines. It makes me miss my childhood friends. Very nostalgic.
