Relentless

The incomprehensive stares come relentlessly,

Then the names are cast so offhandedly,

Is love so hard to believe, really?

Just to have one day, where we can be treated, just the same way,

a chance to go to the movies, hold hands and kiss,

without feeling the brunt of ignorance and hate, would be bliss.

The excuses come ‘I didn’t mean it that way!’ well what did you mean, as you didn’t say?

Next time please just keep it shut, all you need is an ounce of decency and to recognize love!

You don’t have to understand or care, just please will you avert your glare.

The need for pride still goes on, as true acceptance has been fought, not won.
