Like That Light Morning

Never have I known how it feels to be in a place with so much fragility, that the invasive scent of whatever porridge they decide to serve every morning is what it means to get saved another day.

Like That Light Morning

One, sharp,

ringing bell.

Then silence.

Your I.V. drips

and I count every second

in limbo.

Never have I known

how it feels to be in a place

with so much fragility,

that the invasive scent

of whatever porridge

they decide to serve

every morning

is what it means to

get saved another day.

There’s not much of that,

now, out here,

where every form of solitude is flawed,

Faithless.

It is no longer

like that light morning.

Your hand on mine

my pulse wishing it was yours,

As the only thing we’ve allowed

to break the

clean,

antiseptic,

miserable air

around,

The beginning of

Somewhere Over The Rainbow plays

as if it could grant you

countless days of living.
