BLUES is a poem written and shared by Maryam H. Viqar to The Ugly Writers for the month of March 2020.
BLUES
She flew
Parading with the stars above
Conspiring gladly with
The seasons in love
She floated gracefully
On the surreal seashores
And the deep blue waters
Swelled at her touch
She Went to sleep always
Watching the lustrous skies
In the lap of the hills
dreaming of someone’s eyes
She had a name
Full with
titles fancy
And I yearned
To be her, for all the world to see.
But I
had a ground,
Dusty and rocky under my feet
To walk on
I could not glide
And i ran mercilessly
For years and years,
I kept thinking
What could have been
But then
I found shelter
In someone’s gentle eyes
And a moon, pale, frail
but Satiated and content
Outside my stained glass window
Inspiring,
to write words with an
Endless flow
Like a clear water drop
Like a smile that makes
You stop
Here was
my favourite coffee
Still steaming
Beside a newly bought
violin polished in
the serene shade
Of sun
bursting through
Skies in spring
And an autumn bound journal
Marked with last year’s leaves
Therein a song
from
A new language sleeps
Shall I ever forget
What dreams
Nestled in my eyes?
Years ago
What dreams?!
Dreams???
