S U N is a spoken word poetry entry written and shared by Merry Princess Joe to The Ugly Writers under the theme Love for the month of May.
S U N
I met you when my world was in its darkest.
You became the sun that brought light to the depths of my pitch-black world.
You were the sun that brought warmth and color.
I was happy and content, receiving light and warmth.
I was so happy that I started forgetting the real you.
You being the sun that gave me warmth, is also the sun that burned everything down.
You took it all back.
You took all the colors away.
You left me with all the dust of what I had left and what I thought I had.
And then, without saying anything you just left.
Leaving me with the thin cold air.
Grasping unto nothingness because you burned them all down.
You brought back the darkness I used to live in.
You took everything, leaving me with emptiness.
Emptier than how I used to.
Maybe I don’t deserve anyone.
For I now have nothing.
For even my sun that brought me back to life has left me cold, hiding in the dark.
And once again waiting for warmth from the sun that I used to know.
