Wake Up

I’m so tired.
I’m so tired of always having to reach out first.
Always the one who makes the first move.
Always the one who has to say ‘Hi’ to let them know I still exist.

I want to feel important,
I want to be someone who crossed someone’s mind.
I want it to be my turn to wave back.
Someone who’s been forgotten
and remembered at the most unexpected time.

What a cute and stupid dream.
Wake up. No one remembers you.

You only remember them so they will remember you, too.
You only make them feel significant to feel like you are important as well.
You only say ‘Hi’ so they would wave back.

What a cute and stupid reality.
Wake up. You only remember yourself.
