Open is a short poem written by Kevin Rein and shared with The Ugly Writers under the theme Entropy: Overcoming Destruction for the month of July

Open

Today, I am letting you go

as I free myself

from the phantom bond

that binds us.

Like a paper butterfly

I will now surf the winds

away from the imaginary love

that embraces us.

Today, I recognize that

we never really loved each other,

for in every stage of our tie

we both cheated.

I came to realize that

love is sacred and

we should instead obeyed.

Lust isn’t something we can

just incorporate and expect things to work,

for if we don’t click

we better just quit.
