Walk On is an essay written by Kevin Rein and shared with The Ugly Writers under the theme Organized Chaos for the month of September
Walk On
Life is a pageant. Everyone around you expects you to be beautiful all the time. They always demand more from you, from your looks, from your behaviour, and from your character. Then, you get so overwhelmed that you end up trying to change yourself in accordance to what people would love to see in you. It is tiring and consuming that you begin to exhaust your body just to please everyone. You focus on getting a lot of support from the people around and you forget that all the support you need is you.
Yes, all you need is you.
In order to get the crown you need to be you. You need to accept all your flaws and irregularities so you can walk that stage without hesitation. Do not get drowned by the idea that it is important to get everyone’s support, because that’s not how it works. If you want to win, you need to focus on yourself. You need to gather all your strength, keep it tight in you, and no matter, whether rough or smooth, you need to walk like you are at the center of the universe. Do not wait for the stars to align for you, be the force that confuses the lights until every eye focuses on you.
You need to condition your mind that everything is working your way and the fight is all yours to win. Embrace yourself, give your all. You’re not here to lose, you need to absorb as much confidence you can in order to bloom on that stage. Everyone’s expectation is not about you. They’re not the one to tell you what to do. Know that you know better and you can walk life better when you are you. It sounds cliché, but this is the truth and you need wear it tight.
You only have one chance to life. You may fail and fall but do not surrender. The more you try, the more you most likely get the crown. Keep your eyes on the crown and tell yourself, ‘I’m here to win that crown and bring that home, and no one can stop me because I deserve it, and it’s mine.’ Do not let the fire in you die, make it burn. Show everyone everyday that you are here for a reason. You are here to leave your mark and be a legend.
Always remember that it’s not the people who will make you win your crown, it’s you.
