Binukid Gothic

My neglected grave and tombstone engravings only know life in the forms of moss and vines, insects with more fleeting lifespans than mine was.

Binukid Gothic is a poem written by Emiary B. Balbuena and shared with The Ugly Writers under the theme Quell for the month of January

Binukid Gothic

the ugly writers

I am a boondock ghost.

I haunt no one.

They have all left with their

ambitions bigger than what

rice paddies and dragon flies flicking

over stagnant ponds could offer.

But I still remain here.

My body died and

rotted a long time ago.

The whispers of prayers

wishing for my peace

and then some

stopped eventually and

No one ever thought of

lighting a candle for me

anymore.

My neglected grave and

tombstone engravings

only know life in the forms of

moss and vines, insects with more fleeting

lifespans than mine was.

At some point,

somebody uttered my name

for the last time.

But still I remain here

mourning my tether

to my untethering.
