On Love is a poem written by Khazran Khan and shared with The Ugly Writers under the theme Quell for the month of January
On Love
…and she’s back – the moonstruck,
the foolish girl. She’s in love,
with a man who adores her,
cherishes her imperfections,
cuddles her on and off.
Yet she’s afraid to love, to lose,
She fears him because of the love;
That turn her insane, a madwoman
She fears him because of the loss:
That turn her cold, a stone hearted one.
… and she still loves , after knowing
That this candle of love will consume her.
With uncertainty she thinks of future :
The devastation she’d have to bear,
The agony, the deterioration of her heart,
And the wounds that will never heal…
Yet she choose to love him,
And loves to be loved back.
Because maybe in that one moment
She wants to feel, if she’s still alive
Or has love already frozen her to death.
