Devon Aoki wears Jeremy Scott Y2k inspired outfit for the Met Gala 2023

Devon Aoki is an American Model and Actress that appeared in several films where she become known for. For the first time in decades, she recently attended the Met Gala 2023 and serve as a y2k dream babe she is.

Unlike other celebrities who wore colorful and grande outfits, Devon Aoki’s wore a very stylish y2k outfit for the met that was made by his bff Jeremy Scott.

Jeremy Scott recalls being “completely and utterly mesmerized by her captivating beauty” when he first saw Devon Aoki in the late ’90s, looking out from The Face magazine. The aspiring model, who was just entering her teens, was enrolled in school in London at the time and was still in her early teens, but Scott, who was working on his third eponymous collection, decided to cast her in his show. It would be Aoki’s runway debut, the beginning of a catwalk career that would see her become a defining face of turn-of-the-millennium fashion, as well as the beginning of a deep bond between the designer and the muse that remains to this day.

Devon wears an outfit designed by Scott to the 2023 Met Gala, which honors the memory of the late Karl Lagerfeld (“A man who championed us both,” Scott notes), that is a reflection of their shared past. Devon, a longtime model for Lagerfeld, adds, “I think he really went back down memory lane to our time with Karl.”

The leather minidress Devon wore to Scott’s autumn/winter 2001 presentation in Paris served as the inspiration for Aoki’s Met Gala gown and Jeremy’s matching suit. According to Scott, who decided to base our looks purely on black and white, “I was thinking about Karl’s use of black and white throughout his career.” “I then recalled one legendary Chloé dress he created with trompe l’oeil folds made of black jet beads,  and combined this notion with the recollection of the last time Devon, Karl, and I were all together, immediately following my Fall 2001 presentation in Paris. The fittings proved to be emotional. Devon wore a white winged leather minidress, so I grabbed my iconic wing and returned to it, fusing it with these gestures from Karl for both Devon’s gown and my tuxedo jacket. “Trying on the dress was a cathartic moment for both of us,” Devon says, “considering our time together in the industry from babies to now.”
