The Tomb of Fear

as she lies in the dark sepulcher nothing but dust and bones kissed by corpulent whining insects

The Tomb of Fear is a poem written by Nisha Raviprasad and shared with The Ugly Writers under the theme Finding Your Voice for the month of September

The Tomb of Fear

Weeping boughs
frozen in pain
reliving the memories painted
in their roots
of the witch who once lived in the
dark

here the sun shies away
and dew fails to form
a portentous gloom bellows
as she lies in the dark sepulcher
nothing but dust and bones
kissed by corpulent whining insects

but she awakes
after dusk
crepuscular creatures hide away
as her stentorian laughter
shatters the oyster grey clouds
she sits atop her tomb,
dressed in wisterias that dare not bloom

if you go to the patch after dark
she breaths fire down your spine
one of revenge to mortals alike.
