Do You Still Hear That Small Voice? is an essay written by Julie Anne Baynosa and shared with The Ugly Writers under the theme Finding Your Voice for the month of September
Do You Still Hear That Small Voice?
“Do you still hear that small voice?” A question that I find important to be answered from deep within me as the world we live in screams the need of us to keep up with its demands. Demands that are brought about the urgency to be heard and understood. With this being said, I get your “heart” for something that is worth fighting for. It is seen in the various reasons why we wake up every day, and why we adhere to certain principles, beliefs, and decisions, yet for some reason it is good to take a pause and re-evaluate the course of life we are leaning on as life is an echo of what we do.
In line with this, I would like to leave certain questions that would allow us to search the voice from deep within, especially nowadays that we are dealing with cancel culture, though this could apply to any other aspect of our lives as well.
• Do the words I speak for myself and for others uplift their hearts and spirits?
•Do I still give others the benefit of the doubt and keep an open mind to their mistakes or shortcomings?
• Do I still go for shaping my character as I deal with things towards others? Do I bring the best? Or the worst in them?
In a world that makes kindness and sincerity look scarce, may we always find that still, small voice be louder than the noise of animosity.
