The shadows of yesterday,
Sad how they can break a heart so deeply,
With just one single mistake of holding on to a memory,
How they can make you stay,
Despite knowing pain is all that’s left
along the way,
How they take hold the best out of you,
In hopes to undo the mistakes of a love,
You don’t ever want to let go.
The shadows of yesterday,
Sad how they can cast one’s feeling in a prison,
That only those who love but chose to leave– can ever set free.
