Spring of Fourteen (A Your Lie in April Creative Short)

Spring of Fourteen (A Your Lie in April Creative Short) is a creative short written by Kiijima and shared with The Ugly Writers under the theme Intrusive Thoughts for the month of May

Where the sakura petals rush into the soft spring breeze, there lies another hope to recreate with music. Spring will soon come again as the seasons are to be. Yet bounded by these hollow chains left scarred, bruises from a cold mother’s touch. Yet unchained by your mellow words over this dusted atmosphere I once breathed, and the same light that forever shone as it was.

I forgive it all, as you forgive yourself. The unreliable accompanist is accompanied by lashes of past, a robot on loose when imperfect perfections unravel. A puppet I’ve been controlled on by people and their stabs, a klutz for neglecting feelings and all but logic. These reasons were your solutions resonate a 24-color palette you’ve noticed long before.

We’re musicians, aren’t we? Playing the same piece repeatedly to a state of synesthesia; being nonchalant of the sheet’s rules, but enthusiastic to bear the crowds. To play and firmly ring a string even if we struggle, to support and tightly hold from fear along our journey. All I had was music and all I have was to reach into someone’s heart. All I had was these silly petty moments we’ve clung to. Will I still be able to forget and to hit “reset” to start again?

You lied to me! And so did I, that we found ourselves attached to strings of music and love. Neither I can find someone in a path of a five-lined road leading to a colorful symphony. After all, it’s the eccentric violinist that completes me. After all, the light will always reach to the bottom of the sea, and stars will twinkle above our heads. The scent from the spring of fourteen will always exist within me.

to the earth we return
