Loneliness is a sandcastle

that spreads its fingers

to open its palm to souls

curling in like a fetus.

Sheltered from company’s

waves it hides its knuckles

and raises its fingers

sheltering souls in its walls.

From a distance silence

blazes its sun on endless

sands burning lives

blistering joys with care’s toys.

Loneliness is a sandcastle

with no shadows yet so subtle

concealing trouble in its rubble;

a battle drifting in a capless bottle.
