The Someone is a poem written by Sourodip Ghoshdastidar and shared with The Ugly Writers under the theme Infectious for the month of June
The Someone
As my hands shake,
And everything’s at stake,
Where have you been,
I ask someone,
I didn’t expect a reply,
For that someone,
I thought was not nearby
I now face a test,
For the someone,
I thought was at rest,
But no, it said,
I’ve been expecting you instead,
Why? I ask
It said, You now have a task
Quickly thinking, I raise my sword
Reveal thyself, or else…..you will never be restored!
But wait….calm down!
No scare tactics!
Or else I will show my antics!
Okay, seems reasonable, I say
Please reveal yourself! I pray!
Aaaaaaahhhhhhh!!!!!
….Pause of silence…….
I look in the mirror
I see my own figure
Is that me
Or is it you that I see
Think for yourself,
Young warrior!
Riddle me not, you you you………wait…
What shall I write?
My memories are blurry,
But I’m not sorry…
Cause I realize
If it were not for you, the someone-
I would’ve been no one
And you would have stayed,
Until I decayed,
And only then would peace have been made.
