You said goodbye,
I wept.
I wiped my tears,
You left.
The path you’re leading
May take you somewhere better,
And I’m here staying,
Might be stuck forever.
Sweet darling, I’m grateful
For the sundowns we shared.
I cannot shepherd you ’til the end,
But I hope to meet you again.
Six feet may be near,
But underground will be far.
And when I breathe my last,
May you carry away my heart.
