homecoming

homecoming is a poem written by Gwyneth Mariz Mascariñas and shared with The Ugly Writers under the theme Intrusive Thoughts for the month of May

when you left without uttering a word,

I couldn’t even say goodbye.

in your absence,

I fell through deeply

as fast as a thunderbolt

you dived into someone else’s ocean

the heavens saw my agony

the stars saw my weeping

but the oceans never showed solicitude.

and if you wanted to,

I’ll fervently wait

even if the ocean tortures me

your homecoming is all I desire.
