Tears

Not just drops of salty water

but remnants of painful slaughter

of heart and the soul perhaps the psyche

of a person who did not know the

way to beg for consideration or mercy

Prayed for some solace perhaps,

a better tomorrow, the fulfillment of

dreams washed down the cheeks

They say everything happens for a reason

everyone has their share of happiness

So why does it all seem so blurry?

The future bleak; no shoulder to lean on

Couldn’t articulate my voiceless cries

All the moments of hurt spent in isolation

shunned all those who pretended concern

For alone, all alone shall I bear

this burden, and that for times to come
