Mend

By: Kelli J Gavin

Busted.

Battered.

Beat up.

Broken.

Blue.

Is there a way?

A way to mend?

To mend this beleaguered heart?

This heart that was given to me.

Gifted to me.

For it is not my own.

My heart seems to boldly beat and carry on.

Why was I deemed able?

Able to fix, to apply the balm.

The balm that will heal the blatant wound.

The wounds that you carry with you.

Close to your chest.

Restricting your breathing.

Blinding you in turmoil

Binding you and tethering you.

Keeping you where you have always been.

Busted.

Battered.

Beat up.

Broken.

Blue.

If there is any way to mend.

Mend your beleaguered heart.

I will do everything I can.

To enable you also to boldly carry on.
