All That’s Left Is Mud is a poem written by Dana Trick and shared with The Ugly Writers.
All That’s Left Is Mud
Due to being created by and inhabited by
Dirty, corrupted, sick humans,
The world is covered with
Muddy contradictions and romantics.
The rebels romanticizing their radical hopes,
Not realizing nor seeing they too can be twisted,
Transformed into the same irony and hypocrisy of pitiful salvation
Their fiendish opponents thrive in.
The mosaic of life and people are casted into dyes of hierarchy,
For the sake of progress and order that only harms all,
But no matter what differences they all have—
Wrath, greed, lust, pride, envy, and gluttony
Make all humans equal in the end.
But,
Even with this filth called humanity rots the world to misery,
The mud allows
Something impossibly beautiful and kind to bloom.

True . Humanity or feelings for fellow human beings has gone to ….almost zero. We are like Nietzsche’s The Last Man. Self centered and selfish. But Art and literature can bring change. Very important poem. Thank you for sharing.
