In Four Acts: Muses is a poem written by Nina Tundag and shared with The Ugly Writers
IÂ
pull me up from the ground
speak into my hair
tell me i smell nice
that my face is pretty
lick the tears pouring out of me
as they land on my breast
then pat some color down my skin
here
right here
there
wait
no
again?
alright
II
brush blush on my cheeks
till i am painfully redder than i should be
whisper into my lips,
torment me this way,
satisfy me with a barren bliss
i’ve memorized like a prayer
i am your favorite artist
III
hushed, you strap a pen around
my hand with ribbons
i begin again until i am hungry
for your convincing
my lips dry, i lift my head
awaiting this smother, this vanity,
and so you straighten the strings
on my back,
court a kiss on my shoulders
i am your favorite artist,
i know
i know it
again?
alright
wait
no
again?
alright
IV
crouched, the fever bleeds
into paper
so thin the very thing that
keeps me afloat,
i am your favorite artist,
your oath on my thighs,
blood from bites running
down my ankles,
burning like a sin i promised
was a good one this time
