Book Review: 84, Charing Cross Road by Helene Hanff

TITLE: 84, Charing Cross Road

AUTHOR: Helene Hanff

RATING: ☆☆☆☆☆ (5/5)

This book would definitely be one of my favorite books from now on, and I wish I had a copy. This book was an easy read, a collection of correspondence between 2 people who are miles apart but have become very good friends.

The correspondence was very endearing and it was such a joy to read. People in that bookstore was very knowledgeable and they really know their books and also very accommodating and friendly. Frank Doel was very nice and his friendship with Helene is so unique. Helene oh my God you are just lovely and so kind hearted and intelligent. Your love for books was so beyond.

This broke my heart into pieces as I’ve reached the end of the book. I did cry a bit. I was sad that they haven’t met. (7/29/15 – Finished watching the movie, I don’t know why but I was really crying my heart out at the end. Anthony Hopkins you are dashingly handsome. )

One of the best reads for me. I hope everyone can read it though, it’s plain and simple but very heart warming and somewhat bittersweet…

So anyone who ever comes across this,

“If you happen to pass by 84 Charing Cross Road, kiss it for me? I owe it so much”

Kiss it for me and for Helene please.

Binibining `E works for a BPO company by day and is a supersized, weird and peculiar super hero by night who loves the sea, the sand and the sun. She has been eating books for breakfast, lunch and dinner and even for desserts too. An amateur sketcher, can draw when bored. Can write at times and whenever she thinks she can. A certified bibliophile, expect lots of book reviews and adventures with this ugly writer. She is not an ordinary girl. She is peculiar indeed. Will prefer basketball over drama, books over telenovelas, a good book and a cup of coffee over tv.
