On Education: The Finale

As budding sociologists, we all know that exams and quizzes don’t really measure one’s intelligence. But what it does is determine one’s level of recall, to measure our memory acuity and to see if the examinee has what it takes to move toward the next grade/level.

Never let low exam score deter you to do your best in the future. Like age, it’s just a number. And like age, it will grow as time goes by.

Teachers, especially traditional ones, have a tendency to compare a child’s memory prowess and mistake it as the end-all-be-all of wisdom. Hence, as students, we were made to believe that when we fail in exams, we will fail life. The fear of failure gave us nightmares. It is not farfetched to say that exams are a hindrance in making a child actualize his true potential. They are rightly denounced as a system which encourages only rote memory and is not a true test of one’s knowledge, potential, and ability.

This excessive dependence on exam results makes parents and students as well, develop an attitude that other activities such as sports, dance, music, art are irrelevant.

But that aside, to comply with the educational system that we have right now, here I give you the last and most important exam for this semester.
