Beginning Enigma

Beginning Enigma

I

took what I wrote

with a grain of salt.

This is not meant to be comfortable.

This is a

grand, marble, slab—

and everyone

has been carving their piece.

People should not have been created;

so perfectionistic,

sounding so pinched,

so distant from emotion.

This voice, wherever it may lead,

I will forever try

to not seem so intelligible.

because—

I write for

the world

and one, single,

person.

I write for the

splay of leaves and

the morning wind.

I write for the freshly shed

skin

of a snake, left to dust,

on the side of a road.

I know nothing,

but I write for everything.
