I’m Allergic to People

I’m Allergic to People is a poem written by Kevin Rein and shared with The Ugly Writers under the theme Terrible Ideas for the month of July.

I’m Allergic to People

Those tiny flowers in the backyard never really cared about me.

They just stand there, bloom, wither, and grow.

I know them more than they know me.

And, that is the reality of life between me and the flowers.

They never knew how since I was a kid I have been fascinated by their colors.

How could one species bloom into different colors?

And, just like when I found out humans evolved into different races,

I couldn’t believe races belittle races and choose to become racists of racisms.

There were even times when I wondered how those flowers recognize my presence.

Do they just live, stand on their roots, and care not about me being human?

It bothers me,

Just like how it bothers me that people are becoming less compassionate of others.

How could they just pretend they are numb?

I am sad.

Sometimes when I explore these things in my mind I feel like I’m torturing myself ‘coz I couldn’t care less.

All these years I have been a brain of many thoughts.

I have been superly thinking.

Those flowers in the backyard surely live the simplest life, while I keep diving into the complexity of being a flesh that breathes.

It is either I keep doing what little change I can do,

Or be like them flowers who exist but do not know.
