JOKER

JOKER

Joker is a poem written by Ms. Reiu Somao-I and shared with The Ugly Writers under the theme The Games We Play for the month of April.

JOKER

I played your game
Only to win shame
Took all the blame
And was labeled lame
I was a fool to notice
I won’t gain anything from this
My bet was slowly being taken
Until what I kept was stolen
I should’ve not taken that sit
That led me to fall into this pit
I should’ve thrown that card
So it won’t make me lose hard
With your flowery words
I presented my heart to your sword
Pierced by your gesture and gaze
I was trapped in your nightmare maze
Engulfed by some victories
I believe I will win in series
Only to be betrayed by your joker
An instant kill from your protector
I invested everything from the start
Because you were someone I adore
Turned out you were wearing a mask
It was all a lie, I dare not to ask
You took it, an all in win
A complete defeat for me
You utter a regretful comfort
Is this how I should be?
I refused to play this game again
I will no longer take any gamble
I’ll crawl from the bottom and until then,
I will watch how this game would crumble
Beneath my feet, you’ll see
One day, you’ll realize
You lost the opportunity to seize
A triumphant player you antagonize.
