Please Find Me

Please Find Me is a poem written by Jhecel Ogtip and shared with The Ugly Writers under our theme Shining Bright / Deepest Black for the month of November

Please Find Me

Where that boy and I once

gathered dried wildflowers,

heard of Leo and Piper,

spilled a glass of fresh milk,

and lost three boutonnieres

in the summer of two thousand and two

is still here.

And yet,

I can’t see the traces

of the plots of wildflowers,

the stains from the spilled milk,

and, the boutonniere

did we really lose three?

What remains are

disturbing echoes

of the story of Leo and Piper

and, the few patrons and witnesses

that I never imagined

would know our names.

And so, if once, in your life

gathered wildflowers,

heard of Leo and Piper,

spilled a glass of fresh milk

and, lost a boutonniere

with a girl who smells like the ocean

in the summer of two thousand and two.

Please come back to that place

give my mind and heart some peace

tell the patrons and witnesses

who you were with

because they keep calling me Piper

I am Calypso not her.

I can barely remember

of what I was before –

before I found that place again

and, the scent of the ocean

is slowly fading in me

so please come back and find me.
