Anyone here doing a Reading Challenge? Are you one of those bookworms who engage in this yearly activity? If so, then hello to you, we are on the same boat. Them challenges motivates you to read more right? Be it any reading challenge or the usual Goodreads reading challenge, I always make it a point to start one whenever a new year comes. I, at least challenge myself to read 50 books per year. How about you guys? Are you always up to this kind of challenge?
I began doing this particular reading challenge for Goodreads last 2012, I came across this site which got me hooked until now (yeah, I’m so done with facebook. Lol) at first of course, I was hesitant doing this kind of challenges, afraid that I might not be able to finish it, but yeah on my first attempt (this is due to peer pressure haha!) I just put up a pledge to read 5 books since I joined Goodreads around late September of 2012. So thankfully I managed, for the next year and the succeeding years to come I was able to put up a much higher number of reads. Up until now it’s almost year-end and amazingly despite of so much workload I still managed to squeeze in reading and happened to finished 81 books (i am bragging i know!) already out of the 50 books I have promised to read this year.
Reading challenges can be a bit challenging and a little bit tricky as well. So, this activity usually depends on what kind of reading challenges you’re doing, there are some who are so particular that there are categories, some are very specific in terms of genre, some can be done with a reading buddy, it can also be an alphabetical lists of books, some would only require a number of books like my reading challenge, it was just simple, you just have to read the number of books you have indicated in your challenge. Basically, if you pledged 50 books a year, you just have to read 50 books that’s it and then some. You just gotta choose what works best for you and anyways, it is always cool to tick something off of your list, right?
If you want to challenge yourself with these kind then go ahead, do them. As for me, I just enjoy reading books without categories in that way I can enjoy every book I want and also complete my challenge at the same time. I like my reading a mix of every genre available. I see to it to read classics, NA, YA, Children’s books even graphic novel, comics and local reads. It’s always good to read right? Are you halfway through your challenges for this year? So, what kind of reading challenges interests you? Please let me know! I want to see how many books you have read already!
Until then!
