Me and Myself

Me and Myself

Somewhere in the mountain of my long-ago dreams,

A child so dearly loved lived.

I can never forget his chocolate smeared cheeks and his runny nose;

Something that I always remember wherever I go.

He was a kid of many friends,

And his days were filled with adventures;

From spicy cheese curls and vanilla popsicles

To sticker tattoos and alphabet blocks,

His life was a life many children dream.

He was a kid of undying questions,

A young soul who lived in fantasies,

A new life filled with excitements,

And a child of endless dreams.

I so wonder what happened to this kid.

I wonder why he didn’t grow up the same way consistently.

I wonder what killed him,

Because whenever I look at the mirror I can still see him staring at me,

But I’m afraid

He’s gone through a lot of pain that all I can see in his eyes are dead fires

And an imprisoned soul.
