Just Tired is a short piece written by Shi Hui and shared with The Ugly Writers for the theme Recovery this month of March.
Just Tired
It seemed like you didn’t do much
You feel like you should do more
But you are just tired
You do not know what is making you feel this way.
The ache in your back,
The sigh from your lips
You keep telling yourself that it’s ok
But is it?
That feeling that you’ve accomplished so much but yet so little at the same time.
That part of you has been lost through this process.
People around you have mixed feelings about you.
Some are proud of you and what you’ve done.
But those that know you are starting to doubt your decisions.
You are sick of being told what to do but you do not have the energy to fight back.
So you just cut all of them out
Out of your life.
The people who you thought will follow you forever have left.
The people who you thought you will never understand have changed.
As your peripheral view widens, you start to choose who you want to give your time to, who you want to focus on.
Unfortunately, the length of time together does not equate to the depth of friendship.
They say your 20s is where you’ll experience the biggest changes in your life but you never expected it to be like this.
They didn’t say it’ll be like this.
With all the changes around you, the only thing you’re feeling is drained.
Sometimes you wish you have a stop button so that you can sleep your life away.
