Under the big tree

I’ll preserve you in my memory

I’ll remember only the good ones

And throw the rest in the sea

So that when I look at our pictures

I’d smile instead of shedding tears

Into the valley

I’ll scatter our pleasantries

I’ll forget the way you called me

And remember only how you held me

So that when I hear your name someday

I’d be glad instead of feeling lonely

I’ll burn the ugly

And keep the pretty

I’d frame the lovely

And shred the nasty

I’ll choose only those spontaneous moments

Where our hearts fluttered

And hurl those scarring events

Where our hearts suffered

I’d keep all of those memories safe

Like a photographed album meant for a trip down the memory lane.
